Flo Web Design Ltd

Flo Web Design is a website design and development company based in Kells, Co. Meath. They have been trading since 2001 and offer a wide range of web and graphic services to their clients. We spoke to their Sales and Marketing Manager Yvonne Walsh to find out what makes the business so special.

        Why did you decide to go into website design and development?

In 2000 we felt there was a gap in the market. The idea was to offer our customers everything under one roof, from development, content management systems, search engine marketing, graphic design and printing we wanted to offer it.

Now we can offer this to our clients and everything is done in-house by our team.

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

We have grown from small clients to catering for multinationals.  In 2008 we gained a contract with a customer for which we have now developed 18 websites.

What is your advice for other entrepreneurs?

My advice first and foremost is to plan carefully, don’t expect things to fall in place on there own. You need to set out what you want to happen and when you want things to happen. Starting a business requires patience and hard work so stay focused.

What makes your business different or special?

There are many different reasons that make us special. Our location is brilliant for our clients we are located in Kells just off the new M3 motorway we are surrounded by loads of great amenities. The service we offer is second to none, it is always quick and efficient. Our customer after sales and support, which is included in the cost is always our highest priority.  Content Management Systems are always developed in-house and we offer 1 day SEO courses at a low cost

How are you gaining visibility and promoting the business?

We engage in a lot of different methods to promote our business. For potential clients we would email them on a regular basis. To get our name more known we take part in an as many tenders as possible.

Networking of course is an essential part to the promotion of any business so we are members of the Business Network International (BNI) and Kells Chamber of Commerce. For the BNI we attend weekly meetings and are actively involved in getting business not only for Flo Web Design but also for the 30 other members. We regularly attend other networking events when possible as well.  

Do you use any Social Media?

Yes we have set up accounts and have started to use Facebook, Twitter and are also using LinkedIn. 

We have a blog for our website that is linked to our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

What are your plans for the future?

The plan for the future is to expand the business.  We want to increase turnover and also increase our staff.  We want to aim more towards corporate businesses and the public sector through tenders.
