About
A native of Dublin, Stuart’s 20-year career in Supply Chain Management has included roles in general management, purchasing and operations management.
HY-Tech Logistics is a specialist Third Party Logistics Provider (3PL) offering a complete range of Supply Chain Support Services from warehousing and logistics to education courses and recruitment consultancy.
Starting Up
Stuart founded the company in January 2000 and has grown it steadily over the past ten years working with clients from small start-up businesses, to corporate and multi-national operations both in Ireland and Internationally.
“I believed at the time that there was an opportunity to enter the market with a real focus on quality customer service. Whilst there has been a saturation of the market in Ireland in recent years by multinational 3PL’s there is still a place for operators who are prepared to offer quality.”
Customer service is key at all times but even more so in a recession when pricing is similar amongst companies. Stuart’s experience with HY-Tech has shown that quality customer service can make the difference in winning/keeping clients.
The Business person I admire the most
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary is the business person that Stuart admires the most. Stuart says that he believes that Michael’s “no nonsense approach to getting the right result most of the time is critical to success.”
Advice
Stuart says that it is important for SMEs to continually reinvent their business models whilst embracing change. “The key is flexibility” he says. “Like many SMEs in Ireland over the last two years Hy-Tech have been prepared to change our model to ensure success. We closed certain divisions and re-engineered the remaining divisions to ensure success for the future.”
