An Irish native working as a Microbiologist in the University of Minnesota could have created the Holy Grail of food preservatives. Dr Dan O’Sullivan learned his trade from the National University of Ireland receiving his PhD in 1990. His new creation has been branded a miracle solution to the tonnes of wasted food created by households and business each year. With Ireland looking to resurrect the economy through the growth of its meat and dairy exports, could this be the solution that Irish SME’s are looking for?
The new preservative and it’s anti-bacterial properties can stop the bacteria that make meat, fish, dairy and eggs decompose as well as fending off nasty bugs like salmonella and E.coli. Dr. O’Sullivan believes that his preservative is much better than anything currently on the market as it doesn’t compromise the nutritional value of the food and helps avoid the use of added chemicals.
