On Monday 24th October, Bank of Ireland teamed up with The Apprentice to promote enterprise and its support of the Irish business community through the Enterprise Week initiative. The episode saw Teams Zest and Spirit host and design a 'Show your Business' event in two of Bank of Ireland's largest commercial branches - Eyre Square, Galway and Wexford town. Four local Irish SMEs were showcased during the show - Featherbed Farm Luxury Ice Cream and Atlantis Seafoods in Wexford; and Martin Divilly Butchers and Goyas Café and Bakery in Eyre Square. The Show Your Business element of Enterprise Week has been enormously successful with more than 5,000 individual businesses taking part over the past three years. At this years Out On Your Own conference, All About Business were part of the large audience of entrepreneurs, students and SMEs owners who gathered in the RDS to hear guest speakers, financial services experts and of course the Dragons talk about entrepreneurship and give advice about starting up and growing your own business.

The categories are: ‘2011 Network Ireland Business Woman of the Year’, ‘New Business of the Year’, 'Self Employed Person of the Year’ and ‘Employed Person of the Year’.

Innovation Dublin - Monday October 17th - Friday 18th November
For the third year running, the city of Dublin will host the annual festival, Innovation Dublin, showcasing the innovative spirit of the city. The festival will exhibit a wide range of creativity, innovation and design from a diverse range of speakers, whether it is researchers, students, entrepreneurs or large corporations, the event will promote and celebrate innovation in the city.
The Innovation Dublin festival has continued to grow since its inception in 2009, where it attracted over 40,000 visitors to 465 events and was held over one week, the following year it ran for twelve days, while this year it is runs for a month and features hundreds of events and conferences discussing and promoting innovation throughout the city. The event kicked off yesterday, Monday 17th October and runs until Friday 18th November.

A new cooperative is creating innovative opportunities for small firms exporting from Ireland, by coming together to reduce prohibitive delivery costs.
Up to now small firms in Ireland could not negotiate on the cost of exporting because they could not guarantee future large volumes of exported goods. Many smaller retailers and craftspeople were charged exorbitant quotes to ship their products internationally. This left many barriers for retailers who saw the cost of exporting in excess of the cost of the products themselves.
Now, Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Exporters in Ireland have the opportunity to join forces with other similar organisations to collectively reduce the costs of these exports and begin selling abroad at fixed fees at greatly reduced prices. . The Co-Operative aims to achieve this by utilising the group purchasing model to create economies of scale thereby reducing cost of export for the individual member business. As part of Bank of Ireland's Enterprise Programme, Dublin West is currently hosting a number of economic seminars for SMEs. The first event was held last Wednesday 5th October in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel. There were two speakers from Bank of Ireland including Michael Crowley (Senior Economist Global Markets) and Damien Daly (Head of Group Deposits) at this event. Bank of Ireland is delighted to announce that it will be one of the sponsors of the upcoming series of TV3 The Apprentice which returns to TV tonight at 9pm!
The fourth series introduces a new format and will see 16 contestants battling over 12 weeks to go into partnership with businessman Bill Cullen, working on a new idea for a business or an existing business.
This year’s winning Apprentice will receive a package worth €200,000. The prize will be made up of a €100,000 in cash and a further €100,000 worth of office space, communication and IT equipment, marketing support, legal and accounting services and advertising.
